Inventory Turnover
Inventory Turnover is a report Headset built to give you a glimpse into the value of your inventory in the store to make decisions about promotions or sales you may want to run to get some of that inventory off the shelf.
You will also be able to review Inventory levels broken out by several periods (today, one week ago, four weeks ago, and twelve weeks ago). You can also drill into categories inventory levels at the bottom.
***Note*** Headset can gather cost through our point-of-sale integrations in two ways (depending on the integration), via re-stock events or via sales receipts. The caveat to these methods is around slow-moving products. Accessories are often the best example. If you're not restocking an accessory or selling it often, we may not have cost data for it. This also means the total value we display may not match your point of sale to the penny
When running the report, you want to select the store location you wish to analyze, a product category if you wish, and then the cost source - Inventory Events or Prior 7 Days Sales Receipts.
Once you've made your selections and run the report, the top-level metrics are going to show you your total quantity in stock across the store and your estimated weeks on hand if you were to sell through all of it.
Retail Purchase Value is the estimated value of the products sitting on the shelves and the Inventory Retail Value is the estimated revenue that would come in when your customers buy all this inventory. This is also based on the list price of the products, so it wouldn't account for any discounts that may come at the time of sale.
As you move down the report, you'll see tables to represent Quantity in Stock vs Quantity sold for several historical time periods, along with, a comparison of Inventory Retail Value vs Total Revenue. Ideally in these metrics, you would want to see the two metrics in each table fairly close to each other. Meaning, you're selling through your inventory at a steady pace and your shelves are being stocked appropriately to ensure you're selling through what you've ordered.
We also give you a visualization of the quantity on hand across categories and several historical time periods. Again, here, you wouldn't want to see huge fluctuations between time periods, although depending on demand and trends, some categories may have a bump in inventory for specific time periods.
Finally, we provide you with a high-level view of your categories, Quantity in Stock as of today, Estimated weeks on hand, Purchase and Retail value, along with how many units sold in the prior 7 days.
Additionally, we provide you with a raw data table at the bottom of this report where you can see similar metrics but across the multiple historical time frames on this report.
